The Harsh Reality of Smoking Withdrawal Symptoms
If you have decided to quit smoking, are you prepared to deal with the consequences? Your health will no doubt increase but it will take time as your body goes through the withdrawal process. There are potential negative side effects that go with breaking your smoking habit but being prepared will help you with your goal. Saying you want to quit smoking is not good enough, take action and make an effort.One of the most common side effects to stopping that you may experience is small spells of dizziness. These are typically only present in the first few days as your body works to regulate hormone production. If you just pause for a brief moment anytime the dizziness occurs it will generally pass quickly. If you try to press forth with activities during these spells you could become injured so taking your time is critical.Headaches are another common withdrawal symptom. This is something that occurs very commonly. Your best line of defense is any typical headache remedy that you prefer. Many will opt with a mild pain reliever while others will focus on relaxing techniques. Regardless of the method, try not to suffer too badly with a headache or it could encourage you to smoke to relieve the stress the headache is causing you.Other withdrawal symptoms include chest tightening and sometimes coughing. The lack of nicotine makes your body go through an adjustment period where it will get rid of excess chemicals that were built up. Different reactions to these conditions include tightening of the chest and coughing. Alot of people who experience the chest tightening often believe they are having a heart attack instead of a withdrawal symptom. If you experience chest tightening and are not sure if it’s a withdrawal symptom or a heart attack , seek medical attention immediantly. Inform your doctor that you have stopped smoking.
Tiredness is also a major withdrawal symptom. This common problem among every person regardless if they are smokers or not is even worse for those trying to quit smoking. Smokers often use cigarettes to give themselves a boost of energy which is quite useful when you smoked but while trying to quit can cause extreme stress. This can also weaken your desire to quit smoking. As you go through this withdrawal, be sure to get addicate sleep to try to lesson this symptom. You should be back to your regular routine in just a couple of weeks.
You may experience additional symptoms but how you handle them will up to you. If you experience serious symptoms or any health problems, get medical advice from your doctor to distinguish withdrawal symptoms from an underlying health condition. It is a good idea to discuss your stop smoking plan with your doctor before you quit so that you can be supervised during this hard time. Even though it will be difficult, the health benefits outweigh all the withdrawal symptoms.
